I know what you're asking yourself out there in the audience. "What kind of drink can I buy Byron that he will absolutely love"

The answer is simple: Bourbon /rocks. Maker's Mark is nice, so is Jim Beam, and I'll drink Templeton Rye if they have it. Beer tends to make me burp when I sing so I try to avoid it... but not very hard. I love Stella Artois... but I'll drink Bass, Guiness, Sam Adams, Boulevard, Honkers, Sierra Nevada, St Pauli Girl, Anchor Steam, Red Stripe, Pacifo, Modelo Negro, Beck's Dark, and Pabst.

The truth is... if you buy it I'll drink it.

Air Guitar Marketing

There’s a kid standing by Hamilton Blvd strumming a cardboard guitar. I stop by once or twice a month to grab a quick pizza for the kids on my way home and notice him. The pizza isn’t especially good, but it’s ok… it’s cheap and fast.

Last week I watched the guitarist for a few minutes while I waited behind another car to turn onto Hamilton. He was wearing a traffic-orange jump suit, and seemed to enjoy playing for the constant flow of passing cars. I thought of all my friends who pay air guitar for free... and how they don't draw a check each week for it. How cool would it be to get paid for that?

Despite his flamboyant strumming and his excellent showmanship; pointing, smiling and swaggering around in the snow … I wondered if anyone actually goes there to buy pizza because of him. ?

Marty's New Night

I'll be playing Wednesday nights at Marty's from 8-10pm. This is my very favorite place to play in Sioux City... besides my own back porch. The funniest banter in town doesn't come from me... it comes from the regulars at Marty's while I'm trying to think of the next song to play. They laugh and joke and sing along without reserve because they know how to enjoy themselves. Stop by and you'll see how it's done.

Marty's on Thursday Nights

Marty's Beer Garden is a great spot to play. On a warm afternoon you can sip a chilled Stella and sit back under the umbrellas for some good conversation. People are friendly and they like their music at Marty's. The jukebox plays everything from Leonard Cohen, String Cheese Incident to the Kingston Trio and Mofro.

I'm there every Thursday 7-9pm - I hope to see you.
